Before I go--

Jason, getting good stats on the single shelf of books I've got to finish is really not much of a problem, because if they have NOT circ'd in the past year, it's easy to see from the most recent circ date. Beyond that, I assume you're not tossing books that have only circ'd once in the past year, right? (I'm simply marking a "Y" if there's evidence that a book circ'd in 2006, instead of marking a number--and in this section of the 398.21s, a surprising majority of books didn't circ at all.)

Since I'm only here for two more days this week, and not at all next week, I want to be sure I'm putting my energy where it will be most useful for the most of you while I'm out. Labeling storage room stuff? Parent bulletin board?? Finishing 398 stats?? You name it, I'm up for it--

Well, except for not growling at children. After a certain number of years, it's just habit.

Your (otherwise) faithful slave,
M

Well, I'm not sure what you've done by now (I think we talked about this after you wrote this post), but total circs and the last action date should be fine. thanks!

Here's what I did, just so you've got a record you can look up if you get confused later on:

--I could only work with books on the shelf, obviously, so those books not on the shelf when I passed through have nothing recorded at all.

--For all books on the shelf prior to 2007, I inserted a sticky flag, at the top of which I wrote FIRST the # of circs in 2006, then a slash, then the cumulative circs. In most cases, I also wrote the cum. circs and current month (12/06) on the book's pocket.

--For the single shelf of books (roughly 398.21) that was not tracked by Jan. 1, I could only determine whether or not the book had circ'd in 2006--not how many times. In these cases, if the most recent action date was prior to 2006, I acted just as listed above. IF THERE WAS ANY CIRC ACTIVITY IN 2006, I wrote "Y" on the flag before the slash.

--Many of the books also got a much-needed bath, and I got to read lots of them, and found many treasures for the princess list and for putting out on display and I thoroughly enjoyed this task and can't wait for you to dream up another one like it for me!!

--I presume you want me to go through as time permits and look up books that haven't circ'd in over a year in the Children's Catalogue??
