three (or four) questions

1) How long do we intend to leave out the basket of Christmas stickers? (Differently phrased, should I pack them up and label them for next year?)

2) Several patrons have inquired about the shift being made from online games & access to the kids' catalogue at our computers to the games-only format with headphones. I'm never really certain about what to answer about why this is happening. Could somebody compose a snappy comeback, to aid the feeble-minded?

3) Jason (since you are, I'm told, the "Go-To Person" in this case), how soon do we get to make the leap to Wordpress? (Blogger is making itself more cumbersome as it wants people to convert to its new format, to which I say pooey!!) If you want a fourth question, that would be, how can I be of assistance in making/hastening this leap??

P.S. Gaaaahh! I just figured out that I miscounted, and there are SEVEN ranges of folktales, not just SIX--maybe I'll come in this weekend and see if I can sequester myself with a cart of books and speed through things to make up for this afternoon's "sick" hours... Unfortunately, the books also become more interesting, have more circs, and also more DIRT as the Dewey number increases...

Hmm, I guess I'd have to say yes to the idea of Kids' Cat only, for two reasons, both somewhat stodgy: a) I believe children should spend as little time as possible playing on the Internet (I'm all for play, rather grumpy about "play" involving computers, and seriously opposed to having kids online if it can be avoided); and b) if Kids' Cat is the only item on one of our computers, it can be labeled something clearer than "KCWeb," which is totally counter-intuitive--parents and youngsters looking for it will be MUCH happier! A third reason might be that a non-games computer wouldn't have to have a headset that sings quietly all day, driving the Library Assistant at the gazebo quietly crazy... (Yes, I know it can be turned down...until the next gremlin arrives!!)

Yeah, except for the fact that Kids'Cat sucks as well...

Well, there's no way around the fact that we need to offer catalogue access to the public *someplace* in the children's room. AND it's one less actual computer game to maintain.

Speaking of computer games, when I get back will we have switched to Wordpress (I hope, I hope)???

Happily offering again to help if needed--
