storage room update

(And a New Year's Resolution--to switch to Wordpress a.s.a.p., right??)

All of the story room storage closet junk has been pulled out, sorted and re-stashed. Seasonal decorations are likely to end up being stored elsewhere; look for an inventory to appear on a blog near you!!

I'm in the middle of labeling tubs, totes and shelves to help everything get BACK where it came from after each use, but wanted to give a heads-up that I've tried to put the items that get used MOST FREQUENTLY (glue, scissors, crayons, paintbrushes) on the shelves to the right of the closet door when you go in (above where the tables are stored), to facilitate grab-and-go craft prep. I plan to label the shelves in this area as well as the tubs themselves; index cards will be taped INSIDE BOTH ENDS of all tubs, so lists of contents will be clearly visible no matter how each tub is "parked" on a shelf, and so they won't be so prone to falling off... ALL PAINTS, GLITTER & SEQUINS ARE NOW IN THE CUPBOARDS ABOVE AND TO THE LEFT OF THE SINK, along with the hot glue gun (waaaay up high). ALL LUNCH BAGS ARE IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT-HAND DRAWER. ***Where should we stash our two (count 'em!) extension cords??****

The only change I made to the construction paper shelving was to switch things around so that large scraps of poster board and the nifty silver & gold magnetic sheets are right at eye level, to allow for inspiration.

Against the far wall, I have not yet tackled the shelf of paper goods and cut-outs, but will be using the same three tenets as before: a) I'll label both ends of tubs on the INSIDE; b) I hope to label both tubs and shelves (and provide an online inventory); and c) I've tried to put the most-used stuff at eye level for easy access, and will put more esoteric stuff on other shelves.

AF, I'd like to purchase maybe half a dozen tubs of various sizes (in addition to the new supply boxes), and a few expanding files (couldn't find any in grey supplly cabinet??) to house our collection of elegant and inspiring papers. Any chance we can snag a new wastebasket (or 2!) ***AND*** recycling baskets, in the new year?? How about...another tray for Ellison die cutters??

I'm also fairly salivating to clean out the "junk drawer" by the sink, at the start of the new year...

Guess that's all for now. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!
