She's BAAAAACK!

And she had a fabulous time in the splendiferously beautiful province of Nova Scotia, mostly the northern, Cape Breton section, looking at stunning mountains and spectacular sunsets and eating LOTS of lobster and wishing all of you were there, too...

But now she's back, and being productive: Penny, 246 slips were in the entry box for Capt. Underpants...but there were many, many cases of multiple slips per child. Let me know if you want me to do a re-count; I'll hold off on calling winners til tomorrow, just in case.

The "new & improved" Gazebo notebook has died and gone to notebook heaven. When transfering stuff to a new notebook, I wondered whether to toss the following items: summer volunteer list (only my few & proud are still coming in, I think); log-off procedures for J dept computers; and the tentative winter 2006 gazebo schedule. Holler if any of this should NOT go into the circular file!!

It feels like time to re-do the parents' bulletin board, and I'd love to use the article AF shared (I presume with all of us?) about how children--especially young ones--go about choosing what to read, and especially about how influential parents are in helping young children choose what to read (i.e., stuff that INTERESTS them). I can't quite figure out how to make this into something visually engaging, and would love to hear ideas...

I want to thank AF for her kind note acknowledging my first anniversary here (as my hubby and I like to say about our marriage: it only seems like five minutes...under water!); the rest of you may send chocolates. I would like to say that I'm jealous at not having created anything, in the past year, as enduringly popular as Greg's last-minute display of books on PETS!! Even though our collection in that area is moderately limited and not all very new, we keep putting out the same old stuff and it totally FLIES off those shelves. Amusing.

On the other hand, it seems to me that the "Guys Read" display has never really taken off (perhaps because of my boring artwork?); in any case, I'd be glad to revamp that into something else---maybe "ABC-123," what with school around the corner??

Can't remember the 86 other things I wanted to ask. ;-) It's great to be back!

Like, DUH: that last comment was mine, not Adrienne's. Whatever.
