Blocks and dinner redux
Our blocks seem to be a danger to the general populace. Chris C. apparently had a go at sanding them, but X. and I are of the opinion that this needs to be done by machine in order to be effective. X, would your family like to hold another sand-a-thon (Xand-a-thon???) on the weekend of July 4? If not, I'm thinking maybe my family can tackle this on the July 4 weekend.
OK, here's advance planning: are any/all of you in town that weekend, and would you be available for dinner on Fri 6/30, Sat 7/1, or Sunday 7/2 evening? (This way, we could ALL have fun sanding blocks--woohoo!!) No, seriously, check your calendars and I will hope we can find a time for you all to come eat and chill out at my house. Also, AF can repair her denim jumper, no extra charge.
Speaking of volunteer work on weekends: I'm planning to give in to my misgivings about having planned a fairly elaborate craft (Star-Spangled Crowns) for the second week of SRP. There's lots of cutting of construction paper to be done, and many hundreds of Ellison stars to be cut out, and our evening volunteers are fewer and further between as summer approaches, and our daytime help won't start coming until school's out. Since I happen to live with a couple of reliable volunteers, I'm planning to STEAL the large rotary cutter, the small Ellison die cutter, and tons of construction paper, this weekend, and see what headway we can make. Trust me, there will still be an URGENT need to assemble the parts of this craft (pipecleaners, stars, headbands and instructions), so our regular volunteers will still be pressed into service.

Not to pester, but I am going to be in Webster for that stretch of time.... could I come too? I would love to see Clan Weinert again, as well as all my favorite WPLers, and I have a handy background in sanding :-)
Sarah, not only are you welcome, but you don't even have to come in formal wear, like last time!! ;-)
Note to all others: significant others/kids are also welcome!!
So, we're just waiting for old Connelly to figure out which day we'll dine at my house: July 2 or July 3. YOO-HOO, CONNELLYYYYYYYYY!!!
I have a sander to contribute to the effort (and could also join in the actual sanding, if needed), so you and Chris could work side-by-side, if you like-- I'll try to remember to bring it down to the library.
