?? for MLS-holders

OK, all you Masters of Library Science, out there: why the heck, as I'm reviewing what we own in the way of books on costumes, do I find books on bullying and stepfamilies in between books on sewing and hair braiding?? What is it that the 646's encompass (and is there a reference online or elsewhere that I could turn to about this)?
