crafts and volunteers

Just wanted all to know where things are stashed: the April take & make only consists of directions, a pipecleaner, a coffee filter and a plastic bag, so all but the pipecleaner are in a plastic bag on one of the shelves in the storage room; I figured pipecleaners would be a priority for March Take & Makes for a while, still, so those are in their usual bucket...but I did pop in the pair of super-heavy-duty scissor/cutter thingies, to ease cutting pipecleaners in half.

A question about the volunteer logs: when I first came on in August, there seemed to be great worry about keeping the logs up in the cupboard (and not on the counter in the story room, where they're likely to get wet, dirty, or lost--I presume this is still of concern?) UNTIL they were full of names and dates, at which point I understood they were supposed to be delivered to Penny??? I have a feeling this has changed, and I don't want to be responsible for moving/leaving anything that someone else wishes I wouldn't, so if whoever has a bead on this could fill us ALL in, I'd be grateful...

Lastly, I want to ask about the young man who volunteers on Wednesdays for the first hour of my shift. It may be that he's just tired by the time I get here, but I never have the feeling that he's very fully invested. (Tonight, for instance, I gave him particular notice that he should cut no more than 3-4 sheets at a time with the paper cutter---since I noticed he had struggled with this last week, I almost didn't say anything at all---but when I went to check on him just minutes later, he had clearly raced through the task...which is to say, his work was less than stellar.) In short, is there a task we think he might particularly enjoy, and where his talents might be put to better use?

Final note to AF: the books on cassette have been shifted to make room for the braille books. What's next?

Penny is supposed to get the volunteer sheets when they are full, then Xandi gets them to compile the stats for our cards. I'm not sure if it's been made clear or not yet, but Xandi should make sure Penny gets the sheets when they're full...

So: I should leave the volunteer sign-in sheets just where they are (i.e, in the cupboard), and Xandi will take care of getting them to and from Penny, yes?

And you, Jason, would rather be a blackish blob than a colorful, Spidey-shaped superhero?

I used to own the comic book featured by my name there. It is a wonderfully designed cover. Click on it to get a better view and you'll see!

I mean, you can't even read what Adrienne's says! and you're complaining about mine...? as Spidey would say, "Sheesh!"
