Are you sorry yet?

OK, brace yourselves: from the person who initially put the kibosh on a Children's Dept. blog, now stand poised to receive a long and truly meandering post...

For Xandi, the Pooh-Bah of Teen Volunteers: to the List of Things Volunteers Could Do In Their Spare Time, would you please add Learn to Clean (at least the screens of) Computers, and Possibly Wash the Story Room Windows??

Also, since I don't greet Ashley when she comes in, I always forget to suggest to her that she should remember to count the crafts she makes--and be sure to leave some time for clean-up before she goes. (Probably good advice for other volunteers, too.) She made nice headway on the new Pom-Pom Pets T&M craft, but heavens, what a mess! (I pictured Jason walking in for tomorrow morning's story times and quite reasonably having a medium-large cow...all the stuff for this month's craft are parked in a pile together on the shelf near the Ellison dies. BTW, my heartfelt thanks to whoever had the FABULOUS idea to use zippered bags for T&M's--it makes a material difference in general orderliness of craft dispersal!!!)

This also leads me to inquire whether (I hope?) Penny will join us here, and whether she or anyone else would prefer that we use this forum to report to her on craft and/or attendance statistics, birthday drawings, blah, blah, woof, woof--??

Speaking of keeping track of stuff, I know that I generally forget to look at the gazebo checklist, and I would like to suggest keeping one on the clipboard under the reference logs, for easy reference. There are lots and lots more in the gazebo notebook, but it seems to me we might all pay more attention to them if extra copies were just in a regular old file folder, say, near the reference logs in the file cabinet drawer? Ditto the "Do You Have a Good Idea?" slips...

Veering off into the general world of Marcia Looking For More Work to Do, I just wanted to volunteer to see to the un-newing if it would make anyone else's life easier. I also wanted to ask about appropriate Chain of Command/Communication procedures as I start thinking about changing a couple of bulletin boards. I know Jason has invited input from volunteers, and I don't want to work on putting something up if it would keep a volunteer from being happy, or otherwise trip up anyone else... My current plan is to take down the coin collecting board (AF, what should happen to the central, laminated penny display?) and replace it with one celebrating April as Dance Month. I'm also looking for ideas for the Parent Shelf bulletin board, so give a holler if you've got one!

LAST but not least, tomorrow (3/2) is Dr. Seuss's birthday; thanks to Penny for bookmarks and activity sheets and generally alerting the world to this important occasion!
